Inmates housed at the Minnehaha County Jail may have 5 photographs (no Polaroid's or inappropriate material).
A hygiene kit is provided upon checking into jail. This kit contains soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb. You will have daily access to a razor for shaving. After that you will be required to purchase any additional hygiene items.
To deposit money into an inmate's account you have (3) options.
1. Deposit in the jail lobby kiosk.

Fees associated for sentenced inmates
If you are a Minnehaha County sentenced inmate, you will be charged a $10.00 day fee for every day you are sentenced. If you are serving a sentence for another county you will not be charged $10.00/day by Minnehaha County.
For deposits made on inmate accounts with a negative room and board balance from a previous sentenced stay, 50% of the deposit will be applied toward the negative balance and 50% will be applied to the inmate’s general account.
The address to mail an inmate mail is: 305 W. 4th St, Sioux Falls, SD 57104 The mail must have the inmates name on it. Any person that attempts to mail contraband to an inmate will be prosecuted. All mail must be delivered by the post office as the Jail will not accept mail delivered by hand.
All incoming mail to an inmate must have a return name and address on the mail. If the letter does not have this information the letter will not be given to the inmate and will be placed into the inmate’s property.
The Jail only accepts single-ply greeting cards and cannot contain postage stamps, plain or stamped envelopes, stickers, maps, calendars, Polaroid photos, unused postcards, newspaper clippings, extra paper unrelated to the correspondence itself such as music, homemade craft items or altered magazines including any picture, articles, or any items removed from a magazine. Pornographic material will not be allowed. If the mail contains any of the above items, the mail will be returned to the sender.
Packages sent to an inmate
Any packages sent will need prior approval by a Sergeant before it is mailed. If it is not approved, the package will not be accepted or returned to sender. Packages containing books ordered directly from the publisher (not through a 3rd party) are allowed.
